This hands-on training series is designed for new District staff to learn the basics of surveying. One training will be held in each NCASWCD area (Areas 3 & 4 combined), with space limited to approximately 12 participants per area for individualized instruction.

Virtual session (required): March 2 — pre-course materials must be completed in advance

In-person field session: Survey a site near a district office; bring your lunch

Hands-on focus: Using laser levels, rods, receivers, setting up a survey book, recording data, and understanding basic survey terminology

Trainers: DSWC engineers

Learning goals: Set up equipment, take measurements, calculate slopes, cross sections, and profiles, and run survey scenarios independently

After you register for the field portion, a virtual link will be emailed to you for the virtual training on March 2.
